San Antonio does not need a reason to throw a party, the beauty of the Riverwalk is reason enough for a fiesta! However the city is spending 384 million dollars to extend it an additional 6 miles north to the Alamo & museum District and south to the Mission District with such treasures as the Mission Espada and Mission San Juan Capistrano! Now that’s just one more reason to celebrate. Even on the hottest summer days the Riverwalk actually creates its own microclimate. It's cool enough the sit at a restaurant and be cooler than the surrounding city. Don’t get me wrong, there are other attractions around like Sea World San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas and the Tower of the Americas and the Alamo Dome. But for me nothing compares to the Riverwalk and all the shops & restaurants. It is particularly beautiful around Christmas time with the festival of lights.
